Unfortunately the soap lube allowed the strip to slide a bit so when it was completely on …it wasn’t centered. So I got one end in first then proceeded to manhandle the rest of the bumper in. Then I realized (after a couple of tries) that unless you have the bumper off it’s actually easier if you get the end in first since bending it around the curved corner and simultaneously snapping the rubber onto the plastic is really tough. The first thing not mentioned was that it would help if I had been told that a requirement is that it would help if you have the strength of Tarzan. Then I removed the rubber strip completely, removed all the silicone, cleaned up the bumper hooked on the plastic mounting strip to the bumper, lubed the strip up with dishwashing liquid and proceeded to force the rubber onto the clip as shown in the images and directions that were kindly provided. The following might help someone in the future.įirst after noticing that the rubber strip had pulled away from the bumper I reported that I noticed that someone had siliconed the little plastic hooks on the plastic mounting strip into the bumper…Ha Ha I thought ….a moron’s repair if I ever saw one.
Well……I finally got to do the rubber bumper strip repair….and what a mighty pain in the B****LS that was. I need to go the gym before I try this one again
